(Basic sewing skills required)
Come along and to make a fully fitted, boned, lined, and back-laced corset in a material of your choice. The Corset provides excellent support and bodyshaping, in my informative weekend Workshops. These corsets are created to be worn as outer or under garments and can reduce your waistline by upto 5 inches. I encourage all sizes from XXS to XXXL plus. Nobody is too large or too small.
Over the two day workshop you can opt to create an overbust corset or underbust style ‘waspie’ corset sometimes used as a cincer and can be used as a waist-training corset.
Only Basic sewing skills are required for these Workshops. I will provide the Paper pattern and structuring materials provided, these are based on original Victorian patterns and I am happy to adapt sizing to suit your shape and measurements. These corsets are beautifully constructed using 3 layers, a top layer,an interlining and traditional cotton Coutil. They contain a steel busk to fasten the front, have 4 steel supports to slot into the back and also contain 14-18 steel flexible spirals bones for long life and comfort.
Not only will you leave the workshop with your own corset after the weekend* but also a pleasing and more advanced sewing skills. This is an admired craft and easy to manage for the beginner and indeed inspiring for those of you who are more confidant stitchers.
Advanced Corsetry:
If you have attended such a workshop or class before, you may like to advance your skills by changing your pattern or making an advanced version. Experiment with leather, lace and different methods of trim. If you are an admirer of corsets, you may wish to create a ‘waist trainer’ a corset for lingerie use or as a leather accessory to wear as a belt style waist cincer. Please get in touch to discuss the options. The cost of the course may incur a slight increase due to the style of corset and materials required.
I will bring along several corsets to the workshop for you to handle, experiment with and to try on.
